Sunday was beautiful and warm!! My mom, dad, and I decided to get out and enjoy the weather. My dad and I used cross country skis while my mom used snowshoes.
My mom tried to get a few pictures of the birds, they're little - can you spot them?
I only fell once!! And I was FAST!! The trails were packed with other people out enjoying the perfect winter day :)
Even with the freezing temperatures, we still had a great time. Thank goodness there we stopped at Tim Hortons on the way home, I was cold for the rest of the day!
For Valentine's Day Liora and I headed to China Town for some sushi!! Luckily, she made reservations at a great little spot, Sushi 88, as there was a line up out the door...!
The sushi was fantastic!! We then headed back to Liora's for some chocolate fondu and red wine. I was falling asleep by the end of the night, I am still a bit jet-lagged... But it was a great evening :) I can't wait for the next excuse to go back to that sushi restaurant!
My last evening there was a beautiful sunset! I threw on my jacket, grabbed my camera, and walked through the streets to capture the pink and orange sky :)
Many people were stopping to take pictures on their phone, it really was beautiful!
Can't wait to see you all again :)
Thank you to all my friends and family for all of the support, especially over the past few weeks, it has meant a lot to me.
I am now back in Canada, freezing my face off! The blog posts will continue, and the name will change (eventually).
Saturday morning we went cross country skiing! I completely embarrassed myself by falling at least 6 or 7 times on a 2.5km trail. As you can see, I am completely covered in snow... apart from my inability to stand up, it was a lot of fun. Peter was a pro, and although he came close, he didn't fall once! As I write this blog post, I am still a little sore (both from the skiing and the falling).
My first time shooting a gun!!!
I was very nervous at first but, ended up doing extremely well. I hit the target each time - those Swedish beer cans didn't stand a chance! I also think I look a lot like Elmer Fudd in the bottom left picture :P
Sunday we got up, finished whatever was left in the fridge, cleaned up and headed back to Stockholm. It was sad to say goodbye but, the weekend at the cabin was the best way to end to my time here in Europe (for now)!!
Now it's back to more snow and cold weather in Canada!
The cabin we stayed in is currently being lived in by a man, who hunts, and on the side of the house were some foxes! It took me a bit by surprise at first but, I got used to it pretty quickly. Being that far north, in the woods, I'd say there are many hunters up there.
Peter's family has a hunting cabin just a few km away from where we were staying, which was filled with more 'catches'!
The hunting cabin didn't have hot water, which is why we decided to stay in the other one. But it did have a sauna! We went by it a few times with the snowmobile, and decided to sauna Saturday evening. As the sauna was heating, we had some soup and watched the sun begin to set.
The sunsets, moonlight, and sunrises were all so beautiful, I tried my best to capture a bit of each :)
I got back late last night from my trip to Sweden and I head out early on Wednesday for my flight to Ottawa - so these next few days are very busy! I will do my best to post pictures but, they may have to come in instalments.
Thursday I flew into Stockholm where Peter picked me up at the airport and we went to his hometown, Sigtuna, about 20km north. Above you can see a couple pictures I took of his street, typical red and yellow houses :)
We then drove another 450km north to the cabin where we staying, which was just outside a city called Sollefteå.
We spent Friday on the snowmobile! We packed a lunch and headed into the woods, following paths, creating our own paths, climbing mountains - it was an adventurous day! We were lucy enough to have the sun shining for most of the day, and soft fluffy snow that we sunk in to our knees.
I borrowed Peter's brother's snowsuit, which meant Peter and I were matching. The day was a lot of fun but, it tired us out so we spent the evening curled up by the fireplace :)
Last night Connie and I went for Moules Frites (Mussels and Fries)!! There was a deal on a Danish site, similar to Groupon, and we jumped at the chance. It was in a small, cozy cafe and the meal delicious :)
Of course, we paired it with a glass of the house red wine, and ate every last fry and mussel.
Today Connie and I will be doing some baking, then tomorrow it's off to Sweden! The next blog post won't be until next week, I have a feeling there won't be internet at the cabin in the woods ;) I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
The other night Connie and Max came over for an evening of homemade pizza, wine, maple whiskey and Cards Against Humanity! The 3 of us had a great evening - we completely lost track of time and hung out late into the night.
We got a little creative with the pizzas!
1. sour cream, pear, prosciutto, honey, walnuts, mozzarella, parmesan
2. tomato sauce, spinach, prosciutto, mango, mozzarella, parmesan
3. jam, chocolate, banana, walnuts
We had some fun with my new remote for the camera, and forced Monrad to pose for a picture or two!
Now, I have started packing and will be heading to Sweden this Thursday!! I am flying into Stockholm to see Peter, and we will be driving 500km north to his family's cabin in the woods. I fly back to Copenhagen Sunday, then Canada on Wednesday! I also have some goodbyes to say, so the next few days are going to be very busy :)
