This weekend I managed to make it out both Saturday and Sunday for a run. It was a little on the chilly side... but I dressed warm and headed out.
Saturday I ran a 5km in 27mins and Sunday I ran 8km in 43mins. Both days at a pace around 5.23min/km. I am very happy with this pace, especially this early in the year!
I also changed things up for my longer run and decided to try listening to a podcast. I listened to an episode from the Tim Ferris podcast, and it really helped the time go by. I think for my longer runs I'll continue to listen to podcasts, and music for my shorter runs.
Looking forward to more mild weather, and many more runs!
I picked up this white Nike jacket from Nordstrom last weekend. It's so cool, I love it!
I've already broken it in with a run and will be wearing it around plenty this spring. Lets hope I can keep it clean... :)
A few meals from the last couple of weeks. I'm trying to eat lots of whole foods; fruits and veggies with every meal.
Hopefully this gives you some inspiration or ideas for meals!
This morning I made it out for my first run of the year! It was 0˚C and since most of the snow has melted,
I was feeling like a run. It felt so so so good! I made pretty good time, and am still feeling great.

My aunt and uncle had a winter party at their cottage. My uncle made a rink on the lake, and despite the -20 weather,
we spent hours skating. I love being on the ice!
Thanks to Leah for the awesome shots!
Can't wait to get on the ice some more this winter!
Matt and I attended a handstand clinic last night at Pure Yoga. Matt can do a handstand but
wanted to learn properly, and I felt completely hopeless so I figured I had nothing to lose trying it out.
It was a 2 hour clinic with one of my favourite yoga teachers, and it was so much fun! We did stretching, focusing on strength, started with work on the wall (as seen above), then some free standing partner work. I needed Matt to help keep me up, and he said I just slowed him down... I plan to keep practicing until one day I'll be able to a handstand!
This summer I played on a softball (lob-ball) team. My team was so much fun, everyone was super encouraging, and
just wanted to have a good time. It was a great season, and I will hopefully play with them again next summer!
The league was played at the RA centre, which was about an hour walk from my apartment. I liked the long walk but,
I am glad to have a break from it... Above is a photo from my walk last evening, such a beautiful sunset!
Seriously, I finally got new shoes for running in. My old Nike Frees are 8 years old, and are so worn out I could pretty much feel the concrete under my feet. I haven't ran in the past 3 weeks, because I've been experiencing a little bit of knee pain, and I can attribute that to my shoes.
I am terrible at buying runners. I try so many pairs on, and nothing feels like my old pair, so I give up. I was missing running, so I told myself I NEEDED to find a new pair. I was going to suck it up, choose a pair, and learn to like them. Instead of trying a new brand, I decided to stick with Nike. Not many people recommend Nike for running but, all of my other shoes are Nike and they seem to work fine for me.
I found these Nike Zooms at The Bay (also saw them at Sport Chek). I love the colour, mostly black with some pinkish/red and white. I chose to go with a pair that has some cushioning, even though I am used to running with no cushion, I figured it would give me knees a break, and I was ready to try something new.
I made it our for my first run in a few weeks and felt amazing after. Sometimes it takes stepping away for a few weeks to really miss and appreciate exercise. I am slowly getting back into running, and am so happy I got these shoes!
