My watermelon for breakfast after a slightly traumatic morning... story below!
Yesterday I decided to start my morning with a walk. I put in a new episode of a podcast I like, and headed out on one of the routes I like to take. This particular one is about 4.5km long, takes 45mins, and goes around the Rideau canal. Half way through the walk I feel something hit my head, as I reach up to feel what happened, I realize it's a BIRD! I swat my hands around to get it away and watch it fly back to a tree. It then circles and comes back towards me as I flail my arms and run away - I definitely looked crazy but didn't know what else to do. It was right near a busy intersection so I am sure plenty of people in their safe and protective cars watched and had a good laugh. I have no idea what possessed this bird to come at me like that!! I walked the rest of the way home paranoid and flinching at every sound.
I am now afraid to go outside...
I haven't posted in a while, which means I have lots of photos and fun to share. I wasn't feeling very creative but after taking some off from my blog, I feel creative again :) So get ready because, I have a bunch of posts lined up!
So for now, enjoy these photos of Leah and I walking Ruckus!
Matt's birthday was on Friday and I decided to do something a little different for him this year!
We started with a dinner in Perth. We stumbled upon this cute little Mexican
restaurant and patio. It was so cozy, and the fajitas were fantastic!
We then headed to the Port Elmsley drive in theatre!
It was so much fun, we can definitely recommend going - but be sure to get there early, it gets quite busy.
We're already planning on going back again this summer.
Happy Birthday Matthew!
On the weekend I headed out on a 12km walk from downtown to my parent's house.
It was beautiful out, and I got to see so much of Ottawa on my walk.
1. The Mint!
Such a nice building, it's been a while since I've been inside, so that will be added to my summer bucket list.
2. The Ottawa River.
Everyone was out on their boats enjoying the amazing day.
3. The Parkway.
Along the parkway, I was near a small airport saw planes taking off and landing.
4. The Woods.
The final stretch of the walk I was in the woods - I definitely walked this portion the fastest.
I actually quite enjoyed the long walk, and I think I will end up doing again!
Matt picked up a new BB gun from Cabella's and we've been having a lot of fun shooting cans up at the lake.
Feels so nice to get out in the fresh air. We always leave feeling exhausted and relaxed!
Our new evening routine: Basketball!
We've been out a lot shooting hoops over the past week, and having so much fun!
We've also created a game, the first person to get 50 points wins. There's a bunch of rules, and ways to get
extra points along the way. I won the first game! I won't share the score, to protect the losing party.
I have a feeling we'll be playing this game a lot this summer.
Next time, loser will be buying ice cream ;)
You've seen this walk many times on my blog... a tour around Parliament! Since the weather is becoming bearable,
Matt and I have been getting out for more walks. Hope you've also been enjoying the nice weather!
With only a few days left to spare, we made it to the Canada 150 Rink on Parliament Hill.
Just our luck, we were out there in the midst of freezing rain.
We were covered in ice, the fronts of our jackets were completely frozen!
Regardless of the weather, we had a lot of fun!
Matt and I took a little walk through Winterlude. It was a sunny Sunday and completely packed, so it was a quick trip.
The top photo is a night art exhibit, and pretty cool beside the ice sculptures.
Matt got a poutine, not a surprise, with two forks so I could steal some, also not a surprise...
Matt and I went out for a skate on the canal! It was snowy and busy day, but we still had so much fun.
We stopped along the way for poutine and hotdogs (probably the only reason Matt wanted to skate).
Here's to a season full of skates!
