A big 'adult' moment right here; Matt and I bought a vacuum! Yes, until now we didn't have one - just a broom and a swiffer. We knew we needed one but they are quite pricey, so when I saw the Dyson V7 on a one day sale at the Bay, I acted like an adult and called up my mom to see if she could pick one up for me... I wasn't able to make it to the store that day so she picked it up for me! It's so fancy - wireless, light, and easy to use. And that's enough about a vacuum... :)
Seriously, I finally got new shoes for running in. My old Nike Frees are 8 years old, and are so worn out I could pretty much feel the concrete under my feet. I haven't ran in the past 3 weeks, because I've been experiencing a little bit of knee pain, and I can attribute that to my shoes.
I am terrible at buying runners. I try so many pairs on, and nothing feels like my old pair, so I give up. I was missing running, so I told myself I NEEDED to find a new pair. I was going to suck it up, choose a pair, and learn to like them. Instead of trying a new brand, I decided to stick with Nike. Not many people recommend Nike for running but, all of my other shoes are Nike and they seem to work fine for me.
I found these Nike Zooms at The Bay (also saw them at Sport Chek). I love the colour, mostly black with some pinkish/red and white. I chose to go with a pair that has some cushioning, even though I am used to running with no cushion, I figured it would give me knees a break, and I was ready to try something new.
I made it our for my first run in a few weeks and felt amazing after. Sometimes it takes stepping away for a few weeks to really miss and appreciate exercise. I am slowly getting back into running, and am so happy I got these shoes!
My new favourite café has one of the coolest views of the city. Located in Simons in the new portion of the
Rideau Centre, it has a glass roof and side. You can see some of parliament hill and the market.
If you're in Rideau and looking for a cute spot for a coffee then definitely head to Simons -
go up the elevator, turn left, and the café is slightly hidden behind the home goods section.
I head home on Sunday and knew I needed to make a trip to the Mall of America before leaving. I woke up early, got some work done, then hopped in an Uber to the Mall. My oh my, it is something else.
It had an amusement park in the middle, which included 3 roller coasters, a ferris wheel, and various other rides! Not to mention there was a Sea World there!! It was cool but if you were on one side of the mall and wanted to get to the other, it was quite a hike around the amusement park.
I did a little shopping... just a little! I went to a store, Madewell, that I browse online often but it's only in the US.
A couple good finds I am excited to take pictures of when I get home :)
