The newest experience we've introducedat XPR is Walking with Llamas! Matt and I got to try it out and it was hilarious!
We got in contact with Ben who has a hobby llama farm. He is a high school student who spends his evenings and weekends taking care of his llamas. Through XPR, you can now take these llamas for walks. He's trained a few to be on leash and the trail is about 30-45mins long.
They are such funny creatures - both in looks and in behaviour. Not to mention, a few are very friendly.
This experience is great for quirky dates (Matt and I had so much fun, as you can tell from the smiles above), it's perfect for families, and makes for an awesome gift. You can see the full details HERE and of course, feel free to message me with any questions! ... I'm still laughing looking back through the photos ....
In my home office I was seriously missing a dedicated work station. I worked here and there, had stuff all over the place, and needed a spot for myself. So I headed to Ikea, and picked up a new desk!
I put it together by myself one night - and am quite proud of it!
I have a couple chairs, my Hudson Bay Blanket, and a candle, so it feels so nice and cozy! It also has two drawers so I can organize my notebooks, pens, and electronics. I love it, and love having my own little work station!
For work, we get to try the new experiences before we put them on our platform.
Last week Matt and I got to go to Tomo, a cool sushi restaurant in the market. We tried a new Sushi and Sake experience!
We sat with the bartender as she made us 3 different sake cocktails, including one from off the menu.
We then got to watch the chef's make our rolls and we ate them fresh right as they were made.
Both the sushi and the cocktails were soo good!! Looking over these photos again, it has me craving sushi....
Can't wait until we launch this on our site (www.goxpr.com) - I think it's going to be a hit!
With work I get to do a lot of cool stuff and this was no exception. I went to a blacksmith and spent
the day forging my own knife. It was a lot of work, and sweat, but sooo much fun!
The workshop was very nice, clean, and a great size. There were 3 of us plus Josh our blacksmith pro.
Above you can see the raw materials we started with on the left, and the finished product on the right.
Matt and I had a quick work trip in Montreal. 24 hours quick, but we had a lot of fun during our short stay!
Jo, our CEO, and I went for a morning run up Mount Royal. The stairs were killer but, the view at the top was beautiful!
We really liked the city, and are thinking about heading back for a weekend to explore more!
I'd say it's been a pretty good start to the week :)
During our special operations training at the military training facility (more info in post below), we got to drive HMMVs! We were lucky enough to have one of Canada's best rally car driver, Leo, with us.
He taught us a bit, let us drive, then took us for a hot lap through the quarry.
This is my first time trying to upload videos - let me know if there are any issues.
HMMV racing past us down a steep hill into the quarry!
Driving and riding in the HMMV was so much fun! I can't wait to share it with everyone through our platform.
I'll be back out to do it again in the future, and am happy to answer any questions if you're interested!
For work we will be adding some new experiences to our platform, and we were lucky enough to try a few of them out the other day. We drove out to a private military training facility in Brockville for some special operations training.
One of the training sessions we did; shooting!
I once shot a friend's hunting rifle at a couple of cans, but it pales in comparison to a military grade assault rifle.
I must admit, I was extremely nervous going in but the guys training us were so fantastic, they made me feel comfortable right away. We did a full lesson on safety, holding the gun in a combat situation, body posture, loading, unloading, more safety, etc. Then, we were ready to head into the gun range.
We had the chance to learn and try both handguns and rifles.
We ran through drills, got to try different guns, and learned a lot. It was a lot of fun, and I can't wait to share the full experience when it's live on our site and available to purchase! If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.
Matt and I, mostly Matt, have been playing virtual reality on the Oculus Rift. Although I tend to get a bit scared in some of the games, I do like the drawing and target shooting. It's a lot of fun, and way cooler than I thought it would be!
As mentioned before, I am working at a local startup, Xpeeria. We recently launched a new site with a Bucket List and Coach List tool. For anyone who needs a reminder, Xpeeria is a marketplace for experiences. What this means is, we believe people want to get out and try new things, while there are others who can coach and teach these things. Our goal at Xpeeria is to find these people and match them up! To start, as mentioned, we've built a Bucket List and Coach List tool. Add to the lists everything you want to try, and anything you can coach. We're currently building a booking module, and when that's ready we'll be able to make connections, and get people out on great experiences!
These are just the first 6 items in my list. You can see the rest of my Bucket List here: http://xpeeria.com/bucket_list/auth0%7C586d1b7cf5245765414e581d
We currently have 99 experiences to choose from. If you have the chance, definitely take a look. Any feedback you want to share (good, bad, we want to hear it all) you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org :)
Happy Saturday, Friends!
