New Years in Copenhagen was quite the celebration! The evening started when Seb and I had a few of his closest friends over for a lovely sit down dinner. We had pork tenderloin, potatoes, veggies and plenty of béarnaise sauce followed by ice cream and a couple of my dad's homemade chocolate chip cookies. After dinner more friends showed up and the party began. Right before midnight we stood on chairs and when the clock struck 12 we jumped down onto the ground and onto money, a Danish tradition. Everyone quickly threw on their jackets and shoes and ran down to the streets to see the show. We popped bottles of champagne in the streets and watched the fireworks. Since fireworks are allowed in Denmark on New Years, everyone was setting them off. We stood on one side of the street and on the other side is where everyone put the fireworks. Every 10 meters or so down the street someone was setting off fireworks (don't worry, nobody got hurt). It was amazing, everywhere you looked there were beautiful, bright, colourful fireworks! The party then moved back to the apartment and slowly came to an end. It was a great night and a great way to ring in the new year.
